PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY IN ACUPUNCTURE
M. Vaccaio. P. Albarello. F. Bangrazi Petti. A. Liguori.
Series ‘I Tascabili di Medicina Legale’.
Editions Minerva Medica.
40 pages.
The fundamental principles to which the doctor must constantly inspire the exercise of his profession are well defined by codified legal and deontological norms, where the core of the main aspects to be respected are identified respectively in expertise, prudence and diligence.
Even to the acupuncturist physician, the fundamentals of professional liability regarding inexperience, imprudence, and negligence rightly apply.
It is therefore important to address the issue of acupuncture by beginning to describe the criteria, methods, techniques, purposes, effects, possible contraindications, risks, and any undesirable consequences from the perspective of professional liability.
The authors hope that this first publication on the subject will open a specific debate on an issue where ad hoc legislation must come into force as soon as possible to address a situation that is expanding rapidly without rules.
